About the role
We’re looking for a Dental Assistant to join our friendly and experienced Oral Health team at North Richmond Community Health (NRCH) for a 12 month maternity leave position.
Working alongside our oral health professionals, you’ll provide high-quality chairside assistance and help create a welcoming, safe and positive experience for our clients.
Our Oral Health Program takes a preventative and holistic approach to care, working with people from diverse backgrounds and supporting communities who may experience barriers to accessing dental and other health services.
Employment conditions
This is a part-time, fixed-term position at 0.6 FTE, concluding 9 September 2027.
The position is classified as Dental Assistant Grade 2.5 under the Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers (Victorian Stand-Alone Community Health Services) (Multi Employer) Enterprise Agreement 2022–2026, with an hourly rate of $34.22, plus superannuation and applicable entitlements.
In this role, you will:
Provide chairside assistance to dental and oral health professionals.
Prepare surgeries, instruments, materials and equipment for daily clinical activities.
Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, sterilisation and clinical record keeping.
Welcome clients and support a positive and respectful experience throughout their care.
Provide oral hygiene information and support as directed by dental operators.
Assist with reception, intake and other clinical administration duties.
Support stock control, equipment maintenance and clinic audits.
Participate in health promotion activities delivered by the Oral Health Program and broader NRCH team.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across Oral Health and other NRCH programs to support coordinated, client-centred care.
About you
You’ll be an organised and compassionate Dental Assistant who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and providing high-quality care to a diverse community.
You’ll bring:
A Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent Dental Assistant qualification.
Demonstrated experience working as a Dental Assistant.
Strong chairside assisting and infection control skills.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy clinical environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A professional, respectful and client-focused approach.
The ability to work sensitively and appropriately with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
Confidence undertaking basic administration and reception duties.
The ability to communicate in a language other than English would be an advantage.
