About the program
The Medically Supervised Injecting Room (MSIR) provides life-saving, harm reduction services for people who use drugs. The Integrated Care Zone delivers wrap-around supports including OAT, GP services, BBV testing, and access to housing, dental, legal, and AOD supports.
About the role
The AOD Nurse Practitioner plays a critical role in delivering holistic, trauma-informed care within a low-threshold, harm reduction setting. You will provide advanced clinical assessment, prescribe and manage treatment, and support integrated care for clients with complex needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments
Prescribing and managing MATOD within scope of practice
Developing and communicating treatment plans across multidisciplinary teams
Providing harm reduction education and client-centred care
Supporting overdose response and monitoring client wellbeing
Contributing to clinical leadership, supervision, and team development
Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and SafeScript compliance
Supporting quality improvement, research, and accreditation processes
About you
You are a confident and values-driven clinician with strong experience in AOD and harm reduction, and a deep commitment to equitable healthcare.
You will bring:
Nurse Practitioner endorsement with AHPRA (no conditions)
Master’s qualification aligned to Nurse Practitioner requirements
Experience in Alcohol and Other Drugs settings
Confidence in MATOD prescribing
Strong understanding of harm reduction frameworks and relevant policy
Ability to engage with clients with complex needs in a low-threshold environment
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
A commitment to social justice and improving health outcomes for vulnerable communities
