About the role
We’re looking for a compassionate and strategic AOD Program Manager to lead our dedicated Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) team at NRCH. You’ll be at the heart of a program that provides outreach, education, health promotion, and support services within a harm minimisation framework, ensuring people who use drugs feel seen, supported and safe.
In this role, you’ll oversee a multidisciplinary team delivering key programs such as the Needle Syringe Program (NSP), Proactive Overdose Response Initiative (PORI), Mobile Outreach Services, and The Home Naloxone Program (THNP). You’ll also work closely with our Medically Supervised Injecting Room (MSIR), provide strategic direction, and foster strong partnerships with the broader health and community sector.
- Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop evidence-based harm reduction programs
- Provide guidance, supervision and mentorship to AOD staff
- Oversee delivery of NSP, THNP, PORI, and mobile outreach
- Collaborate with MSIR and other NRCH teams to ensure integrated care
- Develop service strategies, policies, and procedures that align with best practice
- Lead stakeholder engagement and community education to reduce stigma
- Ensure quality reporting, incident management, and risk oversight
- Monitor financial and operational performance against budget and funding requirements

About you
You’re an experienced and values-driven leader, passionate about community health and harm reduction. You’re a strong communicator who thrives in dynamic environments and brings a collaborative, person-centred approach to your work.
You’ll have:
- Relevant qualifications in AOD, community development, social work, health sciences, or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing AOD programs or services
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- A deep understanding of harm reduction, co-occurring AOD and mental health issues
- Experience managing incidents, building capability, and leading diverse teams
- Sound knowledge of AOD sector trends, community-based health promotion, and service integration
- A current Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
